With the introduction of Windows 8, the old BIOS was also set aside to introduce a new version, the UEFI Bios. With the “new BIOS” (firmware UEFI) we will find some difficulty starting the PC (or notebook) from a usb flash drive, CD / DVD player or external hard drive. In the EUFI, the Secure Boot feature is integrated, which blocks malware that could attack the system in the pre-boot phase, and also prevents the installation of various Linux distributions and all non-certified operating systems. So, if we want to start our PC from an external device, we will have to change settings on our UEFI firmware.
How to boot from usb on Acer Aspire E15 series – Guide
- First we access the Bios following the specific guide How to enter the bios on Acer Aspire E15 notebook;
- If you have entered correctly in the Bios, we will be in front of this screen (see photo);
- With the volume keys, select the MAIN tab, and enable the F12 Boot Menu item. Now, we move on BOOT and modify the BOOT MODE in Legacy.
Finally, to save the changes as soon as you make them, select EXIT – Exit Saving Changes – Yes.
On reboot, press the F12 key to access the Boot Menu and select the support from which to start the notebook.
NOTE: If you want to change the Boot order directly from the bios (maybe if you intend to always start the PC from external support or if we have installed two hard drives) we must necessarily set a Supervisor password from BIOS – SECURITY – Set Supervisor Password. After setting a password, you can change the boot order in the corresponding tab (BOOT).
